Sao Paulo, June 21, 2018 –
IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is bringing together cutting-edge health-tech innovators from around the world with the Brazilian healthcare system through a program to spur new partnerships that can improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. The TechEmerge Health Innovation Summit, which will take place June 28 and 29 in Sao Paulo, is powered by Bionexo, a Brazilian company that develops digital solutions for health procurement, sales, and management processes.
Preselected global tech companies will have an opportunity to present their solutions to major healthcare institutions at the event, including the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, Fleury Group, Rede D’Or, Hospital Sírio-Libanês, Alliar, Dasa Group, Dr. Consulta, and many others. As part of the TechEmerge program, a pool of US$ 1 million will be available to support pilot projects locally.
TechEmerge was first launched successfully in India in 2016, and IFC is now embarking on the Brazilian edition of the program in partnership with Bionexo. In Brazil, the program received over 295 applications from companies in over 34 countries. Through a competitive selection process, 42 tech companies, from 9 countries, have been invited to attend the Health Innovation Summit in Sao Paulo - the full list of the selected tech companies can be found here

Approximately 200 guests are expected to attend the exclusive event, including senior executives from 25 of Brazil’s largest healthcare institutions serving over 19 million patients annually, C-level executives from the 42 selected tech companies based in Brazil and internationally, as well as investors and strategic partners for the domestic and Latin American healthcare market.
“We are very excited about the TechEmerge Brazil program, as we view this as a unique opportunity to support innovation in the healthcare ecosystem across the country, allowing for better and more efficient access. The significant number of global innovators that applied to the program, and the number of Brazilian healthcare institutions that have expressed interest in adapting these solutions, is testimonial to the demand for innovative healthcare services in Brazil”, said Nikunj Jinsi, Global Head of IFC’s Venture Capital Group.
“We are proud to be involved in organizing TechEmerge Health Brazil and believe we have a lot to contribute to the success of the event, selecting companies that will meet industry requirements and innovate in Brazilian healthcare”, said Rafael Barbosa, Marketing and Product director for Bionexo who is leading program coordination in Brazil.
On June 28, the first day of the Innovation Summit, there will be a plenary session with keynotes from healthcare leaders and demos from selected tech companies. The companies will also have booths where they can present their innovative technologies to all guests. In the afternoon, they will have scheduled meetings with healthcare providers participating in the program and interested in discussing potential pilot projects. Meeting sessions will continue on the 29th.
