WASHINGTON, D.C., July 1 -- The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has appointed Morinobu Iritani as Special Representative in Tokyo. He succeeds Shigeru Nagai, who has announced his retirement. Mr. Iritani, a Japanese national, joins IFC following a distinguished career in government in Japan. He has held a variety of positions in the bureaus of international finance, economic affairs, environment, tax, and budget. He has been Consul in the Consulate-General of Japan in New York, Deputy Governor of the Aomori Prefecture, and most recently, Deputy Commissioner for International Affairs of the National Tax Administration. Mr. Iritani attended the University of Tokyo and received a BA in Law in 1967. He received a master's degree in Public Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University in 1971. As IFC's Special Representative in Tokyo, Mr. Iritani will work closely with both the Japanese Government and the private sector to promote the transfer of Japanese technologies and know-how to develop
ing countries and help mobilize financial flows to their economies. IFC is a member of the World Bank Group and is the largest multilateral source of equity and loan financing for private sector projects in developing countries.
