WASHINGTON, D.C., June 20 -- The International Finance Corporation (IFC) announced today that its site on the Internet's World Wide Web is now open to the public. The web site's address is www.ifc.org.
IFC is a member of the World Bank Group and the world's leading multilateral source of equity and loan financing for private sector projects in developing countries.
IFC's web site provides more information about the Corporation and its work than any other single source, with details on:
How to work with IFC
Investment guidelines and application procedures
Daily and weekly stock market statistics from IFC's Emerging Markets Data Base
IFC e-mail addresses for better communication with current and prospective clients
Summaries of IFC's worldwide activities and business partners
Detailed project descriptions, through a link to the World Bank's Public Information Center
Searchable archives of press releases and other documents by region and country, as well as by sector and industry
Summary listings of IFC publications and how to obtain them.
The IFC web site contains thousands of pages of information, but is designed for easy access worldwide by making limited use of graphics and other features that are typically supported only by higher-end computer systems in developed countries. IFC hopes to build on its site in coming months to enhance the ability of users to customize their requests for information.
Descriptions of the Corporation's work and key documents are also provided on the web site in French and Spanish.
