February 23, 2015, Tunis, Tunisia
—IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, today launched a project to help one of Tunisia’s leading industrial groups, One TECH Holding, develop a new training program for employees, part of IFC efforts to bolster skills training and encourage economic development in the North African country.
IFC will deploy its Business Edge training program, used in more than 50 countries, to instruct One TECH employees in a series of management disciplines. Those trainers will form the core of One TECH University, an instructional body dedicated to training the company’s 2,700 employees. IFC will assist One Tech Holding over the next three years in implementing the training sessions, which are expected to help employees become more efficient, client-oriented and competitive working at an international level.
“Human capital is a key asset for a company,” said Hedi Sellami, General Manager at One TECH Holding. “Human resources policies that focus on skills development produce consistent added value for companies, and ensure high quality production standards for our customers.”
Training will focus mainly on marketing, human resources, finances, accounting, and personal productivity. Managers and employees of all the group’s subsidiaries will be eligible for the program.
“Skills training is vital for companies that want to compete in an increasingly globalized word,” said Antoine Courcelle-Labrousse, IFC’s Country Officer in Tunisia. “By supporting programs like these, we can help local firms improve their performance, which allows them to expand and create the jobs Tunisians are hungry for.”
This new agreement strengthens the partnership between IFC and the One TECH group, initiated in 2008 when IFC invested in Fuba, one of One Tech group’s companies. Over the years, IFC has provided corporate governance advice to the group and participated in One Tech’s first listing on the Tunis Stock Exchange in 2013.
