– IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, on Thursday announced the appointment of Rachel F. Robbins as Vice President and General Counsel.
“Rachel brings IFC the benefit of over 30 years’ work in legal and financial services,” said IFC Executive Vice President and CEO Lars Thunell. “Her distinguished private sector experience will be invaluable to IFC as we continue to grow and innovate and create new financial products for emerging markets.”
Robbins will be a member of IFC’s senior management team and will lead overall coordination and formulation of IFC’s positions on legal issues, provision of legal services, and advice on all legal and policy issues arising in connection with IFC’s business.

Robbins was most recently Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the New York Stock Exchange and NYSE Euronext. Before that, she was General Counsel of Citigroup International, where she was engaged in international franchise issues, including major litigation, regulatory issues, crisis management, and acquisitions. She spent most of her career at JP Morgan, ultimately rising to Managing Director, General Counsel and Secretary.
Robbins holds a Juris Doctorate from the New York University School of Law and a B.A. from Wellesley College. Her appointment will be effective June 30, 2008.
