Dhaka, Bangladesh, October 17, 2011
—Continuing its work to improve Bangladesh’s investment climate, IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is meeting with stakeholders from the country’s public and private sector over the next three days.
Pierre Guislain, Director of the joint World Bank-IFC Investment Climate Department, will meet senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Board of Revenue, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority.
“Bangladesh has the largest investment climate program within the World Bank Group. IFC is further deepening the investment climate efforts in two areas of focus: regulatory simplification and private investment generation,” Guislain said prior to his arrival to Bangladesh.
Guislain will also meet business chambers, such as the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the International Chamber of Commerce, Bangladesh. He will have separate meetings with private sector representatives, and attend the launch of the new private sector-driven Public Private Dialogue platform—BUILD.
IFC has been a long-standing partner to Bangladesh’s public and private sector in areas of regulatory reform, e-governance, economic zones, and strengthening institutional and private-sector capacity.
During his visit, Guislain will speak to members of the media.
