Washington D.C., USA, December 19, 2023—To help strengthen local capital markets, IFC and the Milken Institute have joined forces with Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business to provide advanced knowledge and skills training to build the capacity of capital market regulators and financial policymakers in emerging markets.
Through the partnership, Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business will expand the IFC–Milken Institute Capital Markets Program's curriculum to cover additional financial themes, including green, sustainable, and digital finance. The university will also enrich the program through its extensive network of market practitioners and policymakers.
Established in 2016, the IFC–Milken Institute Capital Markets Program is an accredited eight–month graduate-level certificate program, which has trained over 220 mid-career capital market regulators and financial professionals from more than 55 emerging market countries.

Participants in the program, starting in the fall of 2024, will study for four months at Georgetown McDonough before putting their acquired academic knowledge into practice through work placements in public and private sector financial institutions and development finance institutions. Upon completion, they will receive a graduate certificate from Georgetown and return to their home countries to help develop local capital markets.
